AMC launches FMC offering with CellVision HomeZone solution

AMC (Albania), part of DT and Cosmote Groups has launched AMC FIKS, a FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) offering in the competitive Albanian market. AMC FIKS allows AMC to compete in the fixed market with low tariffs using fixed-mobile terminals to provide a segmented lower-tariff offering to the residential market. CellVision mBOSS HomeZone is a key component in the AMC Fiks service delivery.

”Collaboration with CellVision has been a pleasure for us, being always confident about the quality and timing of the project. AMC Fixed Product running over mBOSS Homezone platform was a story of success for our company, which made us proud of delivering ”The Best Product of Year 2011”, as awarded by the Telecommunication Forum in Albania.” says Ilir Duka, Project Manager of AMC.

The CellVision mBOSS HomeZone solution has been successfully implemented in several markets supporting multiple FMC use-cases:

  • Consumer HomeZone. Consumers calling from home get a lower tariff.
  • Corporate/Enterprise DECT replacement. Corporate/Enterprise customers can use the mobile as DECT-replacement whereas the mobile phone cannot be used outside the corporate location for private purposes.
  • Fixed Mobile fraud detection. Ensuring that fixed mobile terminals are not used outside the home they are licensed to.

” Our solution has allowed operators to launch HomeZone services rapidly with an optimum balance between user experience and revenue leakage combined with rapid provisioning and customer care”, says Njål Vikdal, Managing Director,” whereas operators without mBOSS have had to define whole cities as HomeZones, or have taken weeks rather than minutes to provision the service.”

mBOSS HomeZone efficiently supports the mobile operator through the life-cycle. Provisioning can be delivered via dealers or call centre staff, significantly reducing deployment costs and time to revenue. Customer cell lists are then calculated using proven algorithms which can be configured to create the right balance between service quality and revenue loss. Ongoing management costs are minimized with mBOSS HomeZone's unique ability to map locations or addresses to an ever changing mobile network. This puts an end to the costly practice of manually updating the cell lists of customers every time the network changes. In addition to the accurate automatic cell list calculations, management of complaints can be dealt with by customer-facing personnel via efficient interfaces, decreasing operational expense and increasing customer satisfaction.

Albanian Mobile Communications (AMC) was the first mobile operator in Albania, launching the GSM network and services in 1996. The successful privatization of Albanian Mobile Communications in 2000, by COSMOTE Group was the prelude of all further achievements. Part of Cosmote group and of Deutsche Telecom Group, AMC is guided by substantial customer–centric philosophy, a competitive pricing policy, and advanced user-friendly services. AMC offers network coverage of 90% of the territory and 99.8% of the population, serving a customer base of around 2 million subscribers.
